Part 2 # In Secondary School

Ta-Klom studied at Sakaewrattanawit School, a small school in Tambol Sakaew, Thasala district. Importantly, her life changed, she grew to be a teenager. She met a lot of new friends and teachers that she didn’t know. In Mattayom 1-3, Ta-Klom studied with Aj,Kesorn who was kind and beautiful. Sometimes, she punished students who were stubborn and ran away from English class. Aj.Kesorn usually spoke Thai when she taught and she liked to teach reading skill and grammar more than other skills. Moreover, she assigned a lot of assignments for points in stead of having tests. Ta-Klom usually got the best points every time from doing work. One day in the afternoon, Ta-Klom talked to her friends, Mo, Fon, Palm and others.

“I would like my teacher to speak English when she taught.” said Ta-Klom.

“I agree with you. What about you,Palm?” said Mo.

“Ummmmm! I think that we have a little speaking skill", answered Palm.

“When I meet foreigners, I am not confident enough to speak English.” spoke Ta-Klom sadly.

“So do I.” said Fon.

When time passed, Ta-Klom felt she had less knowledge than she had in primary school especially vocabulary. Ta-Klom didn’t have extra time training with her English teacher. In Mattayom 4-6, Ta-Klom got to study with Aj.Suwimon who graduated a master of Art in English from Naresuan University in Pitsanulok province. She was the most excellent teacher in the school and she spoke English very well. Every time, she liked to take teaching aids and she usually trained some students to compete with other students in English skills competition. Ta-Klom liked to study English with Aj.Suwimon so she went to meet her teacher.

“Excuse me, my teacher; I would like to practice more English skills.” said Ta-Klom gladly.

“Very good, my student, I am willing to support students who interest in English.” answered Aj.Suwimon

“I am not excellent but I will try my best.” said Ta-Klom

“Nobody is excellent by birth but everybody can improve by practicing.” Spoke Aj.Suwimon.

When 2 years passed, Ta-Klom was a student who studied English excellently. Importantly, she practiced English skills such as listening, speaking, reading and writing from English songs, videos, movies, cartoons, newspapers, magazines and etc. However, Ta-Klom had a problem in learning English especially speaking and listening. Ta-Klom began to dislike these skills because she thought that speaking and listening skills were very difficult so she didn’t pay attention. When she nearly graduated in Mattayom 6, she was so confused where and what to study. And then she thought of Aj.Suwimon, her idol. She would like to be a good and excellent teacher as Aj.Suwimon so she consulted with her teacher.

“Is it possible for me to study English and be a good teacher as you are.” said Ta-Klom.

“Ta-Klom, listen to me. You can study English very well and I’ll give my spirit to you. Believe me, my student.” said Aj.Suwimon.

“My teacher, I am so afraid that I can’t study English because I have a little knowledge than others who learn with a native speaker. Moreover, I am not confident when I speak, I don’t understand what native speakers say, cried Ta-Klom.

“Come on, my dear. I believe that you can do.” smiled and said Aj.Suwimon.

“OK, my teacher, I will try.” spoke Ta-Klom.

One day, Ta-Klom went to register in Liberal of Arts in English in Walailak University with Aj.Suwimon. Ta-Klom was so excited with a new life in University. When she arrived Walailak University, she had to be interviewed by an English teacher, Dr. Patcharee, who spoke English very well. At the end of the interview, she said “You passed the interview. When Ta-Klom heard that, she was so happy that she could do.
