Introduction

One upon the time, there was a family which in a small house in Thasala District, Nakahon Si Thammarat. The family consisted of a father and a mother. The parents were gardeners who were diligent in their work so they grew many trees around the house. Moreover, they collected some money from working to support a child’s studying. When time passed, the parents had a fat, white and pretty daughter with big, black eyes so they named their daughter “Ta-Klom”. The parents were so happy with taking care of the daughter who was growing up. When Ta-Klom was about 3 years old, she had to learn in a kindergarten in Ban Nub Phao School, a small school near her house. Every morning, Ta-Klom usually cried when her parents took her to school. However, Ta-Klom went with her friends well; she had a lot of good and kind friends that lived near her house. For Ta-Klom’s learning, she had a kind teacher. Her teacher, Kru-Ead, said that Ta-Klom was a good student who usually paid attention. Moreover, Ta-Klom liked to help her friends with their English homework then her friends chose her to be their leader. Ta-Klom more and more liked learning English language because her teacher motivated students to learn English by taking teaching aid such as movies, cartoons, songs, fables and etc. As a result, Ta-Klom learnt English well because of interesting teaching activities.

Part 1 # In Primary School

Ta-Klom’s parents still took her to study at Ban Nub Phao School. In Pratom 1-3, Ta-Klom had a new teacher, Kru Suwanan . Kru Suwanan was a rather evil-mined teacher. She sometimes punished students who didn’t do homework and didn’t pay attention to lessons. Moreover, she liked to shout when she taught; some students didn’t like her. Every morning, Ta-Klom and her friends, Den and Kob, rode their bicycles to the school. On the way to school one day, they talked together.

“I don’t like Kru Suwanan . What do you think about this, Kob?” said Den.

“So do I. I hate her so much because she likes to shout when she teaches.” Kob spoke angrily.

“Ummmm! I think that she is a cruel teacher since I see her and I don’t want to study with her.” said Den.

“Don’t talk this. I am afraid that we will have a problem.” whispered Ta-Klom.

When they reached school at 7 o’clock as usual, they cleaned the classroom and the area that their teacher had assigned. About 8.30 a.m., everybody entered the classroom for lessons. Every day, Ta-Klom and her friends would study about 6 subjects that one of the subjects was English. When it was time to study English, Ta-Klom felt so bored with English language because of her teacher.

In Pratom 4-6, Ta-Klom got to study with Kru Supen . Kru Supen was a good, confident, kind, and excellent teacher. She taught English as if she were a native speaker especially her pronunciation. She used teaching aid for her lessons. Moreover, she trained students to join English skills competition. Ta-Klom liked to study English more than she did in Pratom1-3. One day, Ta-Klom entered teachers’ room to meet Kru Supen.

“Kru Supen, I would like to practice more English skills especially speaking.” spoke softly Ta-Klom.

“That’s a good idea. I usually give a chance to everybody who likes to practice English skills", Kru Supen answered proudly.

“I will practice with you every day.” said Ta-Klom

And then, Ta-Klom was a student that her teacher chose. Specially, Ta-Klom got the best rewards in competition with other students. Each year, Kru Supen and other English teachers had a special time in managing English Camp in other places. Moreover, there were many foreigners helped managing activities too. Ta-Klom liked to participate all English activities. When it was time to study English at school, Ta-Klom was so happy and felt fun because she liked to study English more than other subjects. Importantly, Ta-Klom paid more attention; Ta-Klom would finish assignments before any of her friends and the assignments were correct.

Part 2 # In Secondary School

Ta-Klom studied at Sakaewrattanawit School, a small school in Tambol Sakaew, Thasala district. Importantly, her life changed, she grew to be a teenager. She met a lot of new friends and teachers that she didn’t know. In Mattayom 1-3, Ta-Klom studied with Aj,Kesorn who was kind and beautiful. Sometimes, she punished students who were stubborn and ran away from English class. Aj.Kesorn usually spoke Thai when she taught and she liked to teach reading skill and grammar more than other skills. Moreover, she assigned a lot of assignments for points in stead of having tests. Ta-Klom usually got the best points every time from doing work. One day in the afternoon, Ta-Klom talked to her friends, Mo, Fon, Palm and others.

“I would like my teacher to speak English when she taught.” said Ta-Klom.

“I agree with you. What about you,Palm?” said Mo.

“Ummmmm! I think that we have a little speaking skill", answered Palm.

“When I meet foreigners, I am not confident enough to speak English.” spoke Ta-Klom sadly.

“So do I.” said Fon.

When time passed, Ta-Klom felt she had less knowledge than she had in primary school especially vocabulary. Ta-Klom didn’t have extra time training with her English teacher. In Mattayom 4-6, Ta-Klom got to study with Aj.Suwimon who graduated a master of Art in English from Naresuan University in Pitsanulok province. She was the most excellent teacher in the school and she spoke English very well. Every time, she liked to take teaching aids and she usually trained some students to compete with other students in English skills competition. Ta-Klom liked to study English with Aj.Suwimon so she went to meet her teacher.

“Excuse me, my teacher; I would like to practice more English skills.” said Ta-Klom gladly.

“Very good, my student, I am willing to support students who interest in English.” answered Aj.Suwimon

“I am not excellent but I will try my best.” said Ta-Klom

“Nobody is excellent by birth but everybody can improve by practicing.” Spoke Aj.Suwimon.

When 2 years passed, Ta-Klom was a student who studied English excellently. Importantly, she practiced English skills such as listening, speaking, reading and writing from English songs, videos, movies, cartoons, newspapers, magazines and etc. However, Ta-Klom had a problem in learning English especially speaking and listening. Ta-Klom began to dislike these skills because she thought that speaking and listening skills were very difficult so she didn’t pay attention. When she nearly graduated in Mattayom 6, she was so confused where and what to study. And then she thought of Aj.Suwimon, her idol. She would like to be a good and excellent teacher as Aj.Suwimon so she consulted with her teacher.

“Is it possible for me to study English and be a good teacher as you are.” said Ta-Klom.

“Ta-Klom, listen to me. You can study English very well and I’ll give my spirit to you. Believe me, my student.” said Aj.Suwimon.

“My teacher, I am so afraid that I can’t study English because I have a little knowledge than others who learn with a native speaker. Moreover, I am not confident when I speak, I don’t understand what native speakers say, cried Ta-Klom.

“Come on, my dear. I believe that you can do.” smiled and said Aj.Suwimon.

“OK, my teacher, I will try.” spoke Ta-Klom.

One day, Ta-Klom went to register in Liberal of Arts in English in Walailak University with Aj.Suwimon. Ta-Klom was so excited with a new life in University. When she arrived Walailak University, she had to be interviewed by an English teacher, Dr. Patcharee, who spoke English very well. At the end of the interview, she said “You passed the interview. When Ta-Klom heard that, she was so happy that she could do.

Part 3 # In University

Now, Ta-Klom is studying at Walailak University and she has a big problem in learning English. She knows that learning English in university is so difficult and complicated. In the first year, Ta-Klom couldn’t adjust herself well in learning English. After that she gradually adjusted herself and improved English to some satisfied level. Moreover, she was so confident that she could speak with native speakers. In the third year, Ta-Klom registered a subject about etiquette in eating foods of a teacher. The teacher was so unfair in grading. In spite of Ta-Klom paid more attention as well as she and her friends usually prepared performance very well, she got an unfair point. Moreover, members in the group shared a lot of money in the well prepared performance but they didn’t get a worthwhile point. Her friends in the group were sure that Ta-Klom would get an A or at least a B+ for her final. One day, while they were preparing the mid-term presentation, they talked to one another about that subject.

“My friends, I feel serious and worried about my point in this subject.” said Ta-Klom.

“So do I. I don’t like this subject so much because the teacher is so unfair with giving point.” said San.

“Shall we consult with our teacher?” said Dao.

“Don’t consult with him. Don’t you remember when we consulted him, he usually said “Sorry, I don’t care you?” spoke Ta-Klom.

“I agree with you, Ta-Klom” said Dao.

In the final exam, everybody had to test at Twin Lotus hotel. When Ta-Klom and her friends arrived at the hotel, they saw many English teachers standing in the room and they would evaluate us too. Ta-Klom’s group had Aj.David as a guest. He looked kind and felt happy with those activities. When it was time to know the grade, Ta-Klom got a C+ and she was so disappointed with a grade in spite of working hard. However, Ta-Klom thinks it isn’t a problem that blocks her from learning English. She thinks
“The attempt leads to the success.”
